The Simple Pleasures

January 30, 2008 · 0 comments

  • A storm rolling in after a stinking hot day
  • A ginger beer mixer over ice
  • Crunching on the ice cubes, just leaving enough to keep the drink cool
  • Having extremely dorky ideas for gfts and having it pull off
  • Having a neat and ready-to-go diary at work
  • Blocking out the public holidays and other excuses for a long weekend (I have it down to 3 full weeks of ten this school term!
  • The cool breeze of a fan on hot summer nights

Out with the old

January 27, 2008 · 6 comments

Mum and I thought that my sister might need a lacy blue garter for her wedding. We’re nice like that! Also spent hours looking for a bag for Mum… Long day so far… I’m also thrown out so much CRAP that was horded in my old room at my parents place, and am sniffling like mad with the cat fur and dust that I stirred up. But it was a good old clean! :)

Some Mutterings:

  1. Booze :: booze bus
  2. Counter :: counterstrike
  3. Action :: busses
  4. Trial :: by numbers
  5. Wheelchair :: clinic
  6. 1-800 :: reverse
  7. Chop :: sticks
  8. Relatives :: table settings. argh!
  9. Bed sheets :: silk
  10. Funnel :: fennel

So forgot about Muse

January 27, 2008 · 0 comments

The idea of Muse having the top song in the Hottest 100 did not occur to me whatsoever. heh. But if you lok a the list, not much of the top ten was in my area… Like that damn Soko, and Daft Punk getting in wiht a live version of a seven year old song. Ooh that’s it, just re-realease your hits as live versions and it’s like they’re new again!

I did vote for Karnivool’s vesion of Gotye’s The only way. I love it. At least that’s a cover, not the same song by the some band!

Spent the morning yesterday in the car – had a good run, except for being stopped on teh F3 heading out of Sydney for a bit. Crawling. But, it’s just an expected part of a long-weekend drive there. I had estimated I’d get in around 12:15, and I pulled into my parents’ driveway at 12:12pm, according to my clock :p

Spent the afternoon at a friend’s place listening to the countdown and catching up with people. Nice day. Plenty of opinions about what should and shouldn’t be in the Hottest 100 :) and exclamations of “I don’t know this song!”

Had dinner with the family, wiht my sister too. Still some wedding-y stuff to sort out, but it seems ot be pulling together hehe. And she said I can wear the shoes with the silver heel :)

Okay, need to figure out what I’m doing today – I can’t shower yet because there’s a burst pipe in th front yard and the water’s off… I need to catch Rish’s parents at some point – because it’s a nice thing to do, and because they have a monitor for Rish heh. Also give me a chance to get away from my family. i love them, they just drive me crazy…

Happy Hottest 100 Day

January 26, 2008 · 0 comments

aka Australia Day,
aka Invasion Day.

However you spend it, make it a good one. Take care on the roads! I know I’ll have to, as I’m just about to set out from Canberra to Newcastle. At least I’ll be in range of Triple J for the 9am and beyond part of the journey! What are you all up to?

Wll be in Newie for the long weekend, back to Canberra on Monday afternoon… with all the other holiday traffic! Have a bbq (Au day/hottest 100) then dinner with the family… possibly wedding arrangement stuff again.. I’ll see if I can get a say in the table placements! :p Plus I’ll find out what colour I shoud be doing my toesnails (I’m thinking to go with the bouquet/posy?) and whether I’ll need to start thinking accessories or if someone’s figures that out for me!

Leaving you with the question that someone found there was here with yesterday: Is it possible to have sex with a lioness?

Shoes!

January 25, 2008 · 3 comments

Okay, so after about 3 hours wandering aroudn the Canberra Centre and Woden, I’ve come home with two suitable pairs of shoes:

Chinese Laundry Marly This little pair from Chinese Laundry which I got at David Jones Woden on sale. There’s sparlkies on the ankle there and on the crossover at the toes.

Then there was a pair from Betts at the Canberra Centre. I can’t find a picture online, so I’ll have to talk you through them. The brand is Sandra Miller. They’re also black with a wrap-around annkle strap. simpler crossover (just 2 bands) at the front, with smaller diamontes. Here’s the bit I’m not sure of – the heel is a metallic silver. The shoes are hot, I’ll have have to see if they work with the dress!

SO, I now have two new pairs of shoes. If the ones with the silver heels work with the dress, I’m wearing them – if not they’ll be hitting the Mooseheads dancefloor sometime in the not too distant future ;)

Note to self – when booking waxings, also organise a pedicure. Feet are gross!

Okay. Need to wind down and start settling for bed – a long drive tomorrow!

Oh the Kindergarteners.

We’re awaiting the transfer of about 100 kindergarten kinder kids from our early childhood up to us, the school age team… We’ve been bracing for it since the start of December, when the reviewing and discharing from our own caseloads began in earnest.

We get the lists on Februrary 4th, the first day of school term. At this point we also get to split up one of the SPs caseloads on our team, as she’s been tranferred, without replacement…

I currently have my ‘numbers’ (pont little faceless names at times) at 54. It’s looking like it will be 100 or some come February 4. 50 extra names to get my head around, to make recommendations on, to help settle into ‘big school’.

And they wonder why our waitlist isn’t moving?

Two Right Feet

January 21, 2008

Okay, while I sit here destroying my hair with yet another bleach and dye job (it was falling out beforehand, so why not now?) I’ll retell to you my day. 6am: Awoken by the daily cockatoo flyover. Actually the flyover was a little later than this, because I remember hearing the snakes’ task light turn [...]
