So, I’ve found my inspiration for a costume:
So far I have:
- A cheap black skirt to cut a jagged edge on
- My pink/black corsetty lacey top
- Black boots
- Silver hoops
- Black nail polish
- Black fishnets
- Hot pink fishnets (because I thought I might try them. If they look crap, I’ll wear black. ?layers)
- A metre of black satin
- A metre of Hot pink satin
- A new hot pink bra and blank and hot pink undies
I still need the piratey bits and pieces, like swords and eye patch and a hat. But Someone at work is bringing her kids’ pirate stuff in tomorrow and I can use that.
Should I make emo punk wristbands/gloves from the satin? Most of it will be used to sash around my waist… hehe. I’m having fun… it should turn out reasonable :) Forget the ugly baby mermaid, I’m a pirate!

Okay, not that I really have time to stalk more blogs (my current stalkage list is here at Bloglines, and stands at 57 – I really need to start categorising like Mick has done)… but I would love for some suggestions from you good people of things to read. They could be webcomics, opinion blogs, personal blog, photologs, whatever! Just so long as it has some sort of rss feed for me to subscribe to, because, unfortunately without that I never can keep up!
So, what do you think I would like?

After feeling run down for most of last week, and pushing myself hard over the weekend (ie Dan’s farewell on Saturday night and the fun run on Sunday morning) it hit me Sunday afternoon. Turned out that the sore ear and then the tiredness, subsequent fever and chills would be Tonsillitis (sub acute, for sure, as the throat has come and gone over the past month or so, just waiting for me to hit a point where it would get me, and bring me down)

So two days off work, rest, antibiotics and general pain relief were prescribed. I’m not doing so well at the sleeping part, but I’m not doing much.
Though I got a call just before 11 today from work to ask if I was coming in. I’m SURE I said in the message I left yesterday morning that I’d be taking Monday and Tuesday off and should be in for Wednesday. Chances are that I did, and that they didn’t pay attention to that bit. It is possible that I didn’t get my message across as I had hoped, through my own fault, but knowing how well messages are taken ther sometimes, I won’t feel too bad about it. I just hoped I didn’t have anything on that people are going to be annoyed at me not coming to. argh.
Oh well, I can’t do much about that now. Just have to keep drinking my water.
PS: Does anyone know a simple way to set up post-by-email for wordpress? I start reading the codex and freak out. Surely someone has written a plugin by now to take the pain away?

I did my first fun run this morning. The 5km race of the Mothers Day Classic to raise money for breast cancer research.
Somehow (with lots and lots of encouragement from Rish! Thanks You!) I finsihed the race. Jogged it all, except for two short, maybe 10m each sections which were up to each bridge – they were steep though, so I certainly wasn’t slacking!! :)
The times will go up on Wednesday, so I’ll see what I did then :) Rish will then have evidence that i am able to run 5km, so should therefor do it more often with him :p
edit: I did it in 31:55!!! :)
Aside from being able to raise money for charity by running, this is all of course also in aid of me being the sexiest mermaid out there… at least next weekend at the sea-themed party we’re going to :)

Of course I don’t yet have a mermaid costume, but the idea is there. Do you think I can get seashells to make the top out of from Spotlight in Queanbeyan? ;)

I have:
- Tickets to Greece
- and a massive headache
Not related whatsover. I have recently woken up from a nearly 2 hour nap after work after trying to get rid of headache through panadol, water water and more water, and food.
So I tried sleep.
no, the headache is not as bad as before, but it’s still there. Fortunately, I can probably take some more panadol soon, if I can scrounge some up.
In other news.
I jogged 4km this morning. Given that was on the treadmill, and not 5km, I’m not sure how I’m going to go at the funrun on the weekend. Oh well. I’m enjoying this. :)
Obviously I’ve skipped my Wednesday night Pump class for sleep. At lease I’ll be able to go Saturday this week.
And yes, I have tickets to Greece. Fly out at 6pm-ish on July 7. So that’s just under two months away. In two months I’ll be in the sky! I love having something to look forward to. :)

Always ona quest to have something new on this computer and my ipod (for gym, or for drowning out noisy workmates in a shared office space) I have two new albums as of yesterday:
The first one is the new Portishead album, Third. Had heard one or two of the songs on Triple J, but saw it yesterday for $19.99 at JBHiFi, and thought why not, I’m sure I’ll like it that much :)
And I do. It’s definately an album that the more you listen to it, teh more it grows… :)
The other album is the downloadable Nine Inch Nails – The Slip. Yes, I downloaded it because it was free. No, I don’t own any other NIN, but I do have memories of some of the more popular songs over my time. I prefer the Portishead, but am not deleting the NIN :p
=^.^=
Spent the afternoon doing articulation assessments. 5 of them in 3 hours. I actually enjoyed it – Proabbly because I had success with some and got some sounds out of them that they hadn’t said before :) Sometimes I really love my work :p

Andrew’s wedding on the weekend was lovely… it was great to catch up with people again, just like when the stray person heads down our way you remember how much you love the people you’ve left behind. Caught up with our families for breakfast on Saturday – it’s funny how Canberra is just that little bit too far and too cold for people.
Had a fun night – too it upon myself to dance with the flower girl for ages. Plus, they gave us little cactii as bonboniere! The type with soft “leaves”, potted and wrapped in pink. :) Mine’s sitting on my desk ast work – hopefully it will have as long a good a life as the bamboo I got when I left the early childhood team – it was about 20cm then, and now it’s probably a metre tall. I’m planning on (when i get around to it) chopping it and trying to see if I can sprout the cuttings. It won’t harm the originial, I just don’t know if I’ll succeed with the growing.
Organising my flights to Greece this week – the daughter of someone at work is a travel agent, so I have her giving me quotes today, hopefully they’ll be in my email by the time I get to work (staying home for a bit for the plumber to come) and then I can feel much more organised.
So looking forward to a holiday – 2 months to go! :p
