Oh, Newcastle

LockoutBirthday boy!

Rish and I made the treck to Newcastle for the weekend. To see family, to see friends. To wonder why it’s cold and raining up there. To wonder why we get kicked out of Customs House before 2am when the lockout is 1.30 and the close apparently 3am.

To want to come back in a month or so, fuel costs be damned, and to swim at the beach, to enjoy when summer really hits.

Or to want to make the drive over the Clyde to Bateman’s… and feel like a true Canberran. Either way… I can still just remember summer in Greece (more than a month ago!) and can’t wait for ours. Because it’s free. There’s less smoke.

But until then… I’m starting to feel alive again. Woke up dreadful after Saturday night at Customs. Not from a hangover.. but the dehydration from the alcohol and the way too late night (despite being booted at 2am, we spent another hour playing poker with philby)… my tonsils and ears were just crap by morning. I felts off this morning too, but gradually warmed into the day. I’m not currently a morning person, and it’s not just because I’m lazy. It’s because I’d be fun for an ENT in training.
