Here Comes Xmas

November 30, 2008 · 0 comments

Tree went up last night, amid the drinking of cocktails (I only broke one decoration :p)…

Xmas Tree

What do you think of Rish’s “addition” to the tree this year? It’s gold, so in theme, right?

Psycho.

November 29, 2008 · 0 comments

So, I started in on the books on the awesome bookshelf we have here… The first one I picked up was some linguistics text book on language change, but it was written in a hard to read British manner, so i got bored.

And moved on to American Psycho.

I had to start somewhere…

buy the book from The Book Depository, free delivery

Not sick, but I'm not well

November 29, 2008 · 0 comments

Paranoia, paranoia, everybody’s coming to get me.

Well, at least I have a new song in my head for the day…

I’m up well too early for a day when i was going to be lazy and sleep in. It’s sunny so I’ll have to do washing, go to the gym… maybe go to the Oxfam Christmas fair?

And on the health front – no glandular picked up on blood tests, Rish is doing better… I have a sore throat, but if I ignore it, it will go away.

xx

Viral Signs

November 24, 2008 · 0 comments

I’m like Typhoid Mary or something. First I infect our PC with a virus (granted it had a million year old virus checker on it and that was it) by downloading unchecked software, but now I think I’ve infected Rish with something. HIS dr is thinking Glandular Fever, and since I haven’t been retested since my first bad dose of tonsils in May, it could well be that I’ve been carrying that around the whole time. Dammit. Hopefully it’ll at least mean that I should be done with it.

“The virus is making me want to kiss you”

We’ll see hey?

(and the PC virus is the reason for my scarcity online)

A win, nonetheless

November 22, 2008 · 0 comments

It’s great to win movie tickets, this week I got tickets to Choke and the Mirrors… but neither of them is still showing in the Canberra cinemas that the vouchers would be valid for! Needed to be quicker on that one.

Instead, we will pay (well use the gift vouchers my mother keeps sending us) to go see the new Bond movie. Something to do on a cold (I think it’s meant to top at 15! a week out from summer!) drizzly day. It’ll probably be quite busy. Hope we get reasonable seats!

Riddle?

November 17, 2008 · 0 comments

If a bridge can take 150kg per square metre, and we gather up a whole lot of people, pait them up so there are people piggybacking each other to make 150kg piggybacked people (e.g a 80kilo guy piggybacking a 70 kilo girl)… can we make the bridge collapse??

How many people does it take to collapse a bridge

Or, if we add just one bike…

Cherries!

November 17, 2008 · 0 comments

It’s definately cherry season… you just have to know where to buy them!

A local guy was selling them – 2 kilos for $8 at the Kingston Old Bus Depot Markets yesterday… so Mum (who was down for the weekend) split a box with me. I just might have to go back next Sunday for another box full. Other than that, I don’t think I was exactly inspired at the markets… a few cute bags but I’m scared I’d destroy them in an instant!

On shopping, I’m also after a pair of bown summer sandals to replace my current pair that did last summer and did Greece. Before they fall apart. But again, not inspired. And the ones I did like were in “old lady sizes” as my mother put it – a C fitting that slips off my skinny foot. Yes, I have somethign skinny. :p When I was a kid, I remember wearing A fittings in the Clarke’s school shoes. Given I used to also walk on my toes all the time, it’s no wonder I was falling down a lot. Just don’t know my excuse now…

So I’m sticking to safer pursuits. Like Scrabble. :)

P&F week 2

November 12, 2008 · 0 comments

Focus: pecs and shoulders!

It’s interesting to work through why you might be able to get more stretch on one side than another… I was able to get a better pec strectch on my left side today… and this seemed to be because of my weaker and less tight left arm muscles. Not that I have awesome right guns *giggles* but they do work more!

Tonight’s class was exactly what I needed after sitting all day listening to other presentations. I learned some things today … about handwriting to start with and all the body functions that work towards good handwriting, as well as the benefits of hippotherapy.

But my take home message for me today was that I need to do more data collection. To “prove” what I “know” works. I can see I think how I might incorporate that into a group on Friday. Insprired, and tired.

:)

Sitting.. all day?

November 12, 2008 · 0 comments

We have a PD day today, where we’re off to the AIS to sit and listen to all the wonderful things out workmates have achieved in the past 12 months. Problem is half the presentations are by Speechies on things that I was a part of *yawn* at least we’ll make sure everyone knows what we’ve been up to this year, right?

They are feeding us, which is a nice change for things like this. But I’ll definately be running for a good stretch out in P&F by the end of the day (and probably a interval run to get blood flowing into my extremities again!)

Luv!

November 12, 2008 · 5 comments

CommentLuv (the awesome plugin that links back to YOUR last blog post when you comment on a site.. like this one) is having a contest for those who have commentluv installed on their blogs (latest version of course!) and who then spread the luv by commenting on other people’s sites. It’s all so gooey and warm. Just a shame that most of my commenters are “Real life” people without blogs…

Ahead of Myself

November 10, 2008 · 0 comments

Really, I can’t get too excited about doing a masters or even some coursework when i come home feeling blah after having a headache for much of the the day, coupled with a sore throat… thank you Dimetapp cold and flu for at least keeping the sniffle away and the cough down.

My Burlesque course got cancelled due to poor enrollment. Maybe next semester. Hopefully Japanese will run. It’s all or nothing it seems!

Lay down to half an hour when I got home, zoned out for awhile before I did the grocery shopping. At least Woolies is closer now, even if it is a smaller store! :) Chicken for dinner, which is a put in and leave in the over until done, turning if i really wanna kind of meal. Easy for a night like tonight.

Will hit the gym tomorrow. And Wednesday for round two of P&F.

A Masters?

November 10, 2008 · 1 comment

I’ve been looking at doing further study for awhile now… partially to extend myself and my knowledge, but also so that if I do wind up tagging along with Rish to a country where you need a masters degree to be recognised as a speech pathologist (yeah, don’t get me started – just because they waste three years of their lives doing other study beforehand :p), it would be nice to at least be on the way to doing that.

The flier for Sydney University’s Graduate Programs in Developmental Disability came around this morning… with not long left before the start of the year to make a decision as to whether to enrol (actually it closes Nov 30…) But there IS the option to enrol for just a course or two and then decide whether to continue it as a Grad Dip or a Masters (yeah Masters by coursework, so don’t see myself doing a Masters by research!)

I need to send some emails off, find out course loads, and availability of study leave.

But in the meantime, it’s head down bum up for the rest of the year… waitlists, here I come!
