You know you’re special

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

* I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!

* What I create will be with you in mind.

* It’ll be done sometime this year (2009)

* You have no clue what it’s going to be. It may be something written, some physical thing made, could be anything at all, but I will make it myself. It’s entirely my choice what it is. No quibbles, no refunds.

* I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you put this in your blog as well. If you don’t.. You don’t get anything. Spread the love, people.

(I’ll email you privately to get your address because it will be something physical and I’ll post it to you. Please don’t comment your home address here!)

Sweet as

Freak occurrence at the supermarket this morning. I was in the “express” lane (yeah, it was long) with a new laundry basket and assorted items for dinner… when I saw some new Tim Tams on display.

Being Australia Day, I think it’s important to take note of new Tim Tam lines and whether a new size of Vegemite has come out. So I looked.

They were dessert flavours with “Sweet Surrender” as their tag line.

In a moment of marketing brilliance – I’m standing there, trying to work out the calorie value and how many kilometres I’ll have to run to work off a single one of there.

And a song comes on.

It’s Wet Wet Wet’s Sweet Surrender.

Woolworths, what are you trying to do to me?

31:19

Just did this morning’s 5km loop in 31:19!

I’m impressed because I didn’t have Rish pushing me along (plus it was 2 minutes better than last time). I did, however, however, have his mp3 Walkman with motivating music… my poor ipod didn’t want to wake up this morning :(

I’m going to have to start hunting for a new mp3 player shortly – mine’s no longer recognised by the computer, plus, I don’t know whether it is actually alive any more :( My last ipod (mini) lasted 2 years, this nano only held out 18 months… might be time to move on…

Aunty Fi?

So, yeah. I’m told that my little (oh she’s 24, but she’s still my baby sister) is pregnant, and so I’m going to be an Aunty.

Important question time. What should and aunt, whose name is Fiona, be referred to as by her niece or nephew?

Hot hot hot!

Went up for sprints up on the oval next to work with Rish this morning – almost killed myself with the jog up the hill to get there! I could have almost done that a few times instead (and perhaps I should start doing that – go for a jog up the hill to work in the morning, walk back down and then set down for breakfast? Sounds a good way to start the day!)…

But instead of that, we do 10 one-minute sprints, followed by a 90second walk/rest, and then back into it. Felt so good and yet so bad when I got home! Very hard to eat my cereal this morning.

I feel great for it, though. And it’s especially good to have done, since it hit 37 today and I’m skipping gym! I’ll head in in the morning to make up for it, when it’s much much cooler.

A wiki… for shopping?

Just having a browse at the Health and Beauty buying guide over at ShopWiki.com… mostly because I was trying to find out how much it would have been to replace my bathroom scales if Rish hadn’t found them for me the other morning! From quite cheap to thousands if I want all the features… I’ll just stick with having the weight and body fat monitor, thanks!

(And Rish with his tape measure. I’m sure that, along with fitness changes, means more, right?)

And what I do

Okay, who else shudders when they hear Ronald McDonald say (or see it printed on a Happy Meal cup) “It’s what I eat, and what I do!”?

It’s not that it’s not true – the occasional Happy Meal is not going to make a child obese and fronting up to the emergency room with a suspected heart attack. I think I just feel guilty for believing something McDonald’s tells me!

McDonald’s for me is usually a “I’m driving to Newcastle” thing. Stop at the Sutton Forrest Maccas, find something to eat, grab a coffee and continue on. Last time, I was quite concerned reading the nutrition label on the salad I got. Ignoring the dressing, if you get a Caesar salad with “crispy” chicken, you’re going to have twice the fat than if you get the “seared” chicken. Fortunately for me, I made the right choice on the look of the pictures alone. At least the newer products are moving in the right direction :)

So, for me in life it’s is what I eat, but also what I do… I started my new It’s all about me journal yesterday morning – back to writing down my food, my exercise, and being accountable in pen for what I’m eating and how much or little I’m exercising. Also back to stepping on the scales (they were hiding in the garage in a drawer since we moved house) every week or so and letting Rish loose with a tape measure. The good thing about having moles is that we can use them for reference point :)

Goals for today? Drink a lot of water – the BOM is predicting 37 degrees!

The WeatherPixie

I will have my stretch class tonight, which I sorely need because I’m starting to feel Monday night’s Pump class. So I’ll get to the gym, but it’s won’t be a disgusting session at least! :)

Push It

Ahhh, who can feel like going to Pump class was taking it a bit far for one day when it launches into a Garbage song? *grins*

Ohhh I’m going to be sore in the morning. 35 hard minutes on the elliptical while watching the highlights from last night’s 20-20 match, thena 10 minute jog, then a pump class… first for the year.

*dies*

No wonder I felt refluxy by the end of it. Muscles of steel! Woo!

It’s me against the toaster

Just before Christmas, our toaster started playing up. It wouldn’t consistently keep the toast down, and when it did, it wouldn’t necessarily cook as expected.

At least not for me. For Rish it was working fine. He could could his toast, and make fun of me while he was doing it. So, he cooked my toast before Christmas.

This morning, however, I had trouble dragging myself out of bed to head into the gym while Rish learns more ninja skills (I not have a sore throat, I keep telling myself. because that’s not happening in 2009)… but once I did, I had a craving for Vegemite and cheese on toast.

Vegemite on bread

Notice something odd there? That’s right, it’s not toasted. Just bread. *sulks* It seems the toaster hates me again.

I’ll win in the end though. When it winds up in the bin and I replace it with something shiny and new. mwahhahaa.
