You know you're special

January 28, 2009 · 15 comments

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

* I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!

* What I create will be with you in mind.

* It’ll be done sometime this year (2009)

* You have no clue what it’s going to be. It may be something written, some physical thing made, could be anything at all, but I will make it myself. It’s entirely my choice what it is. No quibbles, no refunds.

* I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you put this in your blog as well. If you don’t.. You don’t get anything. Spread the love, people.

(I’ll email you privately to get your address because it will be something physical and I’ll post it to you. Please don’t comment your home address here!)

Sweet as

January 26, 2009 · 0 comments

Freak occurrence at the supermarket this morning. I was in the “express” lane (yeah, it was long) with a new laundry basket and assorted items for dinner… when I saw some new Tim Tams on display.

Being Australia Day, I think it’s important to take note of new Tim Tam lines and whether a new size of Vegemite has come out. So I looked.

They were dessert flavours with “Sweet Surrender” as their tag line.

In a moment of marketing brilliance – I’m standing there, trying to work out the calorie value and how many kilometres I’ll have to run to work off a single one of there.

And a song comes on.

It’s Wet Wet Wet’s Sweet Surrender.

Woolworths, what are you trying to do to me?

31:19

January 19, 2009 · 0 comments

Just did this morning’s 5km loop in 31:19!

I’m impressed because I didn’t have Rish pushing me along (plus it was 2 minutes better than last time). I did, however, however, have his mp3 Walkman with motivating music… my poor ipod didn’t want to wake up this morning :(

I’m going to have to start hunting for a new mp3 player shortly – mine’s no longer recognised by the computer, plus, I don’t know whether it is actually alive any more :( My last ipod (mini) lasted 2 years, this nano only held out 18 months… might be time to move on…

Aunty Fi?

January 17, 2009 · 6 comments

So, yeah. I’m told that my little (oh she’s 24, but she’s still my baby sister) is pregnant, and so I’m going to be an Aunty.

Important question time. What should and aunt, whose name is Fiona, be referred to as by her niece or nephew?

Hot hot hot!

January 15, 2009 · 0 comments

Went up for sprints up on the oval next to work with Rish this morning – almost killed myself with the jog up the hill to get there! I could have almost done that a few times instead (and perhaps I should start doing that – go for a jog up the hill to work in the morning, walk back down and then set down for breakfast? Sounds a good way to start the day!)…

But instead of that, we do 10 one-minute sprints, followed by a 90second walk/rest, and then back into it. Felt so good and yet so bad when I got home! Very hard to eat my cereal this morning.

I feel great for it, though. And it’s especially good to have done, since it hit 37 today and I’m skipping gym! I’ll head in in the morning to make up for it, when it’s much much cooler.

Cocky on the way to work

A wiki… for shopping?

January 15, 2009

Just having a browse at the Health and Beauty buying guide over at ShopWiki.com… mostly because I was trying to find out how much it would have been to replace my bathroom scales if Rish hadn’t found them for me the other morning! From quite cheap to thousands if I want all the features… I’ll [...]

And what I do

January 14, 2009

Okay, who else shudders when they hear Ronald McDonald say (or see it printed on a Happy Meal cup) “It’s what I eat, and what I do!”? It’s not that it’s not true – the occasional Happy Meal is not going to make a child obese and fronting up to the emergency room with a [...]

Push It

January 12, 2009

Ahhh, who can feel like going to Pump class was taking it a bit far for one day when it launches into a Garbage song? *grins* Ohhh I’m going to be sore in the morning. 35 hard minutes on the elliptical while watching the highlights from last night’s 20-20 match, thena 10 minute jog, then [...]

It's me against the toaster

January 10, 2009

Just before Christmas, our toaster started playing up. It wouldn’t consistently keep the toast down, and when it did, it wouldn’t necessarily cook as expected. At least not for me. For Rish it was working fine. He could could his toast, and make fun of me while he was doing it. So, he cooked my [...]

Now, to improve

January 8, 2009

Went back to Posture and Flexibility class last night – I’m glad it was on because last night I really wasn’t up to doing anythign silly like running 5k. No, I did that this morning. Both went well – I got some good hip flexor stretching going once I got my calf muscles out of [...]

Bump in the night

January 7, 2009

Next resolution? Run into less things in 2009. How long did it take me to collect a few new bruises this year? Well, I have a huge one on my foot from NYE… Then there was the running into the street sign while going all bogan looking at cars in Newcastle. I’m starting to see [...]
