Victorian Bushfires

February 9, 2009 · 0 comments

I knew there were going to be bushfires on Saturday/Sunday. But I didn’t realise so bad. Victorian Bushfires killed at least 108 with that number going to climb again, because that’s only the bodies they’ve found, but I hear there are still people critical in hospital with burns :(

No Deterrent

While we’re on YouTube clips… I don’t think this Agent Provocateur clip would discourage Rish, or many people for that matter, from ‘forgetting’ Valentine’s Day…

I don’t need Agent Provocateur, a good Valentine’s gift for me would be being able to shop for my own lingerie. I get enough pleasure from that! I’m not a shoes and bags girl. I have way more lingerie. The thrill of the hunt.

Amanda Palmer – Oasis

I’ll admit the style or the content o f Amanda Palmer or the Dresden Doll’s music is not for everyone. But I have a thing for upbeat songs which may be able the world ending, depression, suicide… or in the case of Oasis by Amanda Palmer – abortion, date rape and Oasis fangirlism (a href=”http://www.metrolyrics.com/oasis-lyrics-amanda-palmer.html”>lyrics).

So, of course, I’m interested in when she blogs that she can’t get the song played on UK stations and certainly not the film clip – with references to Sarah Palin, and a hot nurse bottle feeding a newborn baby beer. It’s such a bouncy song, and I love a dark sense of humour.

If you haven’t, watch the film clip and perhaps read Amanda’s blog entry. And then never listen to her again if you don’t like it. But I do :)

The dangers of Trams

February 3, 2009 · 2 comments

So, I survived, and generally enjoyed, four days in Melbourne. Despite 45 degree heat (in which I crazily walked to meet Nadine for lunch! I caught the tram back for free)…

I injured my toe, tripped on a tram… as only I would do. It goes with the one that’s still giving me trauble on the other foot that I hurt when we were moving in at the start of November

Melbourne does, however, give our more freebies than Canberra:

Admittedly, the Red Bull was chilled and I got it Monday, when it was a cool rainy day (yes, I got rained on in St Kilda) and the Vitamin water was warmish, and I got it on the 45 degree Friday. It made my teeth feel funny *cleans teeth furiously* but would have been better chilled.

I also got a free clip on Koala at Chinese New Year celebrations. And an Ox tattoo. Hot.

Much more eating and shopping was done. And I’d do it all again. Except maybe without spending Saturday in a meeting. Though, they paid for my flights (wine on the way home!) … and fed me a fair bit too. And gave me a pen. It’s worth it :p
