Next time, Gadget

No level 3 position for me this time. But I’ve been deemed as suitable, which means they can use this recruitment round to keep filling positions for the next 12 months if they so wish. Not exactly sure where in the bottom 4 (ie top 3 got permanent, 4th got a contract) but some place…. There’s bound to be at least a maternity leave contract with my name on it :p All-female workplace does that :)

She wore red shoes

June 24, 2009 · 0 comments

Had a job interview today, applying for one of the new positions (at a higher level than I am now) promised to us in the May budget. Yes, they pushed it through fast – it’s not even passed as a bill yet!

Like my shoes? They’re redder in real life. If I get the job, I’ll thank it on wearing awesome shoes (and being generally awesome myself)…

and buy some more to celebrate?

Pink Guitar Hero

guitarhero-sims

So, I bought Sims 3 yesterday. Made an experimental Fiona sim. She has some cool purple hair and glasses, but I forgot to edit some other stuff, so now she wants a rock career. So she bought a pink guitar.

She’s as clumsy as me – fortunately she can’t afford much furniture, so she’s only tripping over her own feet. (But there’s been one Mac and Cheese fire in the kitchen. Got to meet a cute fireman though…)

Ahem.

Burn.

June 8, 2009 · 0 comments

Ahh, my first real experience of Canberra’s firecracker availability over the June long weekend. I thought I’d taken a photo, but that wasn’t of fireworks, since I can never get good shots of that. Instead, it was of a shopping trolley filled with sticks, leaves and yellow-pages, with a few crackers thrown in, set alight for the amusement of what you would have generally thought to be reasonably mature adults.

But watching stuff burn is fun. Which is why I can home last night stinking of bonfire smoke, with a desperate need to wash my hair. I didn’t catch alight though. At one stage I had a few burning embers attach to my scarf, but those around me patted them out. How nice. :)

(in other news, I picked up a rather large bruise on my mid-back, around the spine on Saturday night. My theory is slipping off a chair and hitting my back on the wood, but I seriously don’t know how it got there. If anyone can enlighten me, that would be sweet of you!)

Wonder Wall

June 3, 2009

It’s one of those weeks at work. Half way though term, racing towards mid-year, and everyone is walking around in a tired daze. Not completely dazed, they’re still churning through their work, rushing from client to client, tapping out reports at 8am, over lunch or after five… with the part-timers starting to take work home, [...]

June.

So. June is here. This means a few things… May is over. I can write May off as a dumb month without a computer and with too much illness. It’s winter. I can officially complain about it being cold. Job applications are due. June 11. Now that I have my computer back I can write [...]
