Because we still need to care about global warming

At work, we are being encouraged to shut down our computers at the end of the day (I generally do it at the end of the week, as it takes about 10 minutes from power on to being logged in) and I wonder if this does save more electricity?

(it’s been cited as one of the ways to meet out 1% efficicency dividend… as is spreading out workers across the whole week. When can we do the 4 day week?)

See if you can put your computer into Hibernate instead of shutting down. It should be faster (and lets you keep all your apps open), and still powers off the PC.
