“Family and Community” Day
So, in Canberra, in order to give us Melbourne cup day off, they concocted some sort of family day where we’re either meant to be getting drunk at the races or sitting in the park with babies.
I nearly got all community on you – I bought a Lion’s Club sasage sizzle in Glebe park… then promptly exited before I got caught up in all the “family” excitment going on.
I made it to the gym – sweated sooo much. Going to start running around Lake Burlery Griffin again. Warmed up with a 15 min and a 10 min jog in my cardio today. Helped get that sausage in all its fatty goodness burned off!
What did you get up to for Melbourne Cup day?

It was so hot in Sydney that I was swimming when THE race was running! Not that I’m much into the Melbourne Cup anyway.
Um, are you sure you have enough sauce on that sausage?!

I spent it STILL cleaning up after the parties!

Canberra gets the day off too?? Another reason to move away from Sydney :) I spent the entire day running office sweeps … and winning them… then to point out to everyone that there is no way I could have ‘rigged’ it.

@Kelley – ugh! you poor thing :(
@sharkcrow – I haven’t watched the race the past couple of years since we got the holiday – but the hols’ being moved to the first weekend of the spring hols – so two long weekends in a row!

haha, too funny :P
being from Melbourne, I escaped the state and went to Hobart. It was raining, so we spent most of the day pointless driving around. Then my flight was delayed.. fun!

So long as you weren’t stranded by Tiger Air it can’t have been all bad ;)

Sometimes all you need is a sausage in a piece of white bread with tomato sauce!

I went to the races and sat in the members stand all day, it was a sizzling hot affair as the aircon inside was broken for a while. the old ladies in their hats & suits were VERY cranky, I’m telling you, I was actually scared!
