Step Up

I’m sure we all have things that are just that much trickier than others, for me, when it comes to the gym, it’s the stepper. Something about the stepper than makes my heart race (score one for the heart rate monitor!) and make me want to quit. (not as soon as the treadmills though – I run much better when i’m covering REAL ground than the treadmill).

Sadly, blurry. Too cold and windy for my poor lil camera!

Other challenges – when dogs growl and you decide to walk the long way instead… but you see purrty flowers!

Oh and deciding whether it’s a good idea to sign up to a bootcamp run at 6.45 Monday morning. Opinions?

Joining a bootcamp was a huge achievement for me. It was the hardest physical thing I’d done, possibly ever. I kept going after the first month, and it became my fitness regime for quite a while. Which is really saying something for me personally, because it’s pretty much the only exercise program I have stuck with.
I loved being outdoors, seeing the sunrise, watching the cygnets at Albert Park lake growing up. The exercise wasn’t fun, but I loved the feeling of accomplishment I got from bootcamp.
That said, it was too hard on my knee to keep up with (and I grew annoyed at the massive lifestyle change that was required to be up at 5.30am for a 6am start three times a week). So now I’m doing personal training and shifting into training on my bike in preparation for the Great Victorian Bike Ride in November.
But really, my overarching belief is everyone needs to find the activity that works for them – so try the bootcamp and see what you think? :)

I did a boot camp and loved it! I found that I reached a ‘plateau’ by the end of the 8 weeks, but it was a great way to kick start a routine :)

I only see one downside to the entire thing boot camp thing! You live in Canberra, and it’s the middle of freaking winter. 6.45 am is going to be freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing.
