Compostable Coffee Cup ~ the little lioness

Compostable Coffee Cup

Compostable coffee cups

Got a coffee ahead of a day in the uni library from As Nature Intended at the Belconnen Markets… I knew I’d be getting fair trade coffee and all (Sacred Grounds) but I wasn’t expecting the cup to be “compostable”…

Not quite sure how it all works, I assume that the thin plastic coating is okay for worm tummies and the lid’s Ingeo Biopolymer is okay for wormy tums too?

Interestingly, the recycling code is no 7…. The “other” group. From what I understand… #7 may indicate BPA content, but it may not, as it’s such a cluster of plastics. According to their website Ingeo doesn’t contain BPA. So drink up! ;)

Lovely idea indeed! I am pretty sure the place I got breakfast from yesterday in Sydney uses a similar cup!

Eh, most of them probably contain unnamed estrogenic compounds anywho, or so said a study a few years back involving incubating snails on plastic surfaces.

What do you think?
