(mis)Communication

Communication is supposed to be my specialty, right?

Damn, though, I’m bad at it sometimes!

Hey, look, a rainbow!

Coffee
This mug was deceptively light. It must have had two layers of glass and air in between. Due to my mothering, though, no-one was burned, hey Hannah?

A day where I arrive to work slightly a buzz with something. Maybe a touch of anxiety, a little bit rushed, and little bit off kilter. Not ready to have the backlog of emails from my day off sick on Friday, not ready to repeat myself for the xth time about something that should be easy enough. Just not ready to deal with other people and their difficulty in doing what would make my job, and thus day, easier.

So it threw me off. For longer than it should have.

But coffee with Hannah helped this afternoon.

And sitting here now with a glass of wine, and Rish across the room.

A little lighter.

Minestrone

May 29, 2011 · 0 comments

Minestrone

My way:

1 onion, diced
1 stick of celery if it’s in the soup pack, diced
3 rashers of bacon, diced.
Large teaspoon of minced garlic
Splash of olive oil
Assorted veges – I used a carrot, a parsnip, a couple of potatoes, a turnip. Because, yes, that was what was in the soup pack – chopped
Vege stock. I used a cube and hot water to top up to the amount needed to make it soup like.
Large tin crushed tomatoes.
2 tins of beans, drained and rinsed. I used one of borlotti beans one of cannalini.

Sautee onion, oil, bacon and celery in large pot.
Add veges and stock and tomatoes and beans.
Cover. Simmer. Ours was going for an hour.

Eat. Yum.

Minestrone

Also goes well with fresh bread from the breadmaker. This one is using the Laucke Easy Bakers Gluten Free Meals and Grains with a handful of pepitas. I just make it up to the oven recipe and use the yeast free setting. Might do with a little less water than that, but it’s fine :) As you can see, it’s hard to slice when warm! ;)

Yeah! Distinction!

May 28, 2011 · 9 comments

Yeah! This, of course, will help me when trying to sell myself for private work with a literacy focus. Look! Even a UNI said I can do stuff to do with literacy and learning difficulties!

One more subject to go in the master’s degree. Next semester.

I can do it!

(in mirror form. heh)

In spite of my hooded appearance, I did not steal the copy of Season 3 of Packed to the Rafters I have in my hot little hand. I won it in a comp that that WANTED to win a holiday in.

And so, you my lucky people get to share in my spoils. Or have them. Whatevers.

So, yeah, to enter, just comment up to once a day. I don’t care what you say. You could tell me about a prize you won and really didn’t care for. Up to you. Oh and extra daily entries if you tweet or facebook about the comp. Just link up to your link in a new comment so I can find you.

Will accept entries from anywhere (region 2, 4 DVD apparently). And there may be extra awesomeness in the package if you win. Like Threadless stickers or glitter.

:D

Okay EDIT!

I may be extending the time of this giveaway. Because there may be more prizes. Or a bigger prize, anyway. As in I should be not wanting to have received seasons 1-3 on DVD. For now, let’s just say this comp isn’t closing just yet…. And keep entering, because you’ll at least be in the running for season three, but it MIGHT be seasons 1-3! whoa!

And, you should totally like littlelioness.net on facebook. GO! ;)

EDIT: I will now be able to give away the first three season of Packed to the Rafters on DVD. Yay! So please enter to win. COMPETITION WILL CLOSE A WEEK FROM NOW aka 8pm Tuesday 7th, with the winner selected at random using the plugin “And the winner is”

You may enter once a day with a new comment. Or comments about tweets or facebook shares. PLEASE make sure you make a NEW COMMENT for each entry, otherwise I can’t count it.

Yay!

We are the youth – Memories of silverchair

May 27, 2011

Who else can remember being from Newcastle and ‘not liking’ silverchair, mostly because they were from Newie? This was in year six I think for me, when Tomorrow was big, Frogstomp the rage, and I do have memories of Newcastle not really liking them ;) Shift a few years on, and any inkling I had [...]

Looking at job ads, sending off emails to people who I might want to work with, googling, forwarding resumes, asking for contacts. Meeting and talking to new people. Out of my comfort zone, but not too scary. It’s weird. We’ll see where it gets me. Hopefully to a full time job and a not too [...]
