Engagement Party at the Town Hall Hotel, Balmain

Brian and Carly's Engagement Party, Town Hall Hotel, Balmain

Did you know that it can take just as long to get to Balmain from Newcastle as it does from Canberra? Well, it did for some of our friends last weekend for Brian and Carly’s engagement party at the Town Hall Hotel in Balmain! Our foggy drive up the Hume was a breeze compared to the traffic heading into Sydney on a Saturday morning from the north.

Fortunately, we all arrived to pink cupcakes made by the bride, a bar tab and some yummy food from the functions menu being brought out.

As the driver, I had to pace myself, so a few glasses of bubbly over the 6 hours we were there!

Everyone was raving over the food – in particular the pizza and the lamb and rosemary pies… FYI I stuck with the chicken skewers and ducked out for some sushi at some point to fill my fussy tummy ;)

We got many crumbs on the floor, a bit hard not to when eating standing with a few pink napkins :D

There were calamari rings, and chorizo sticks (yes, that would be the fancy, shiny sausage).

A fun way to get all the friends together from both sides to celebrate.

The cup cakes look so pretty. Nothing like finger food to force people to bond over shared experience of trying not to spill food on yourself :D

Yep! We all pull through these traumatic experiences closer!

That is one shiny sausage. Ahem.

Pretty, pretty cupcakes too! I’m glad you were able to find some sushi nearby, as engagement parties without eating at all would be a Very Sad Thing Indeed.

Balmain is full of food. Though I didn’t want to line up for an hour at Adrian Zumbos ‘ ;)
