So, I’m here.

My room is full of my things.

There’s a big TV.

The Devil Wear’s Prada.

It means that ANYTHING I wear tomorrow on my first day will be ok.

So long as I wear awesome tights.

xx

Spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia is an inherited disorder of bone growth.

Liam

It can result in dwarfism, and some vision and hearing difficulties depending on the subtype.

Liam

People with this condition have short stature from birth, with a very short trunk and shortened limbs. Their hands and feet, however, are usually average-sized. Affected individuals may have an abnormally curved lower back (lordosis) or a spine that curves to the side (scoliosis). This abnormal spinal curvature may be severe and can cause problems with breathing. Instability of the spinal bones (vertebrae) in the neck may increase the risk of spinal cord damage. Other skeletal features include flattened vertebrae (platyspondyly), severe protrusion of the breastbone (pectus carinatum), an abnormality of the hip joint that causes the upper leg bones to turn inward (coxa vara), and an inward- and upward-turning foot (clubfoot). Arthritis may develop early in life.

Liam

Basically, it’s a type of Dwarfism… More info at the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Liam

This is my nephew, Liam. He’s just been diagnosed with SMD. But not a particular subtype. He’s little. He’s cute. He’s Liam.

Liam

He of course, is doing his own thing.

Liam

He has a little sister due in two weeks. So my sister and her husband have their hands full, but being in Syndey means I’m closer to them and more able to help…

Liam

I was happy to see though that it’s on the list of rare diseases the Steve Waugh Foundation supports! Which means I’m running for the right cause come the City 2 Surf!!!

Breakfast at Cafe Gaudi, Woden

As it’s my last day “between jobs”, plus I slept in, I decided to take myself out for a big breakfast that would see me through the day. After browsing the menus at the Westfield Woden cafes, I settled on Cafe Gaudi, who did me a made up breakfast – gluten free toast, tomatoes, mushroom, bacon and a potato roesti. If I did it again, I’d skip the mushrooms, mostly because I keep forgetting that I’m not really into breakfast mushrooms.

keys

Feeling like a bit of a jailer after collecting my keys to the flat I’m renting a room in in Sydney yesterday…

Currently, I’m surrounding in boxes. Slowly packing more stuff, after taking half my things to Sydney yesterday.

My new room:

My flatmate’s boyfriend will put the bed up before I move in properly on the weekend.

I didn’t just move boxes, I also tried a local coffee shop yesterday – Buzz at Mortdale. A funny little place with a Subway, video store, coffee shop and playpen:

Birthday Celebrations

July 24, 2011

Kicked off my birthday last Friday at the gym – I’d been awake since 4:30am, so why not get up and hit the gym at six so I could indulge later in the day? ;) This was after getting a cute cute tote bag from Rish from Honeybee in Newcastle, that I hadn’t told him [...]
