The Home Of Your Dreams

Collaborative Post

It’s so hard to know what the house of your dreams might be as there’s just so many
different designs out there. Not only that, there’s so many new house listings that come on each month that will grab your attention and show you that the home you have might not be the home of your dreams. But that isn’t the case, if you work with what you have you can turn your home into absolutely anything you want it to be. Besides, the hassle of moving is just too much for some people, so a little renovation here, or a switch up there, and you can transform your home into something completely different. It has always been hard to keep a home modern and new because there’s always something new being designed that will catch your eye. But as long as you try and keep everything fresh, and have an update every few years, there’s no reason why you can’t create the home of your dreams. If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration, here’s a few ideas that we have in mind that we know you’re going to love.

Think Modern

Modern is the look that most people like to go for, but it isn’t the only one we’re going to talk about today. To get that modern look you’re going to need to do a bit of renovating, but if you take it one room at a time and find ways to make the whole ordeal cheaper, it shouldn’t hurt your pocket too much. So, the first renovation idea we’re going to give you is for a room that isn’t usually put first, your bedroom. The bedroom is always put to the bottom of the pile because it is the last room that any guests in your house are going to see. But it’s the room that you spend the most time in, and the room that you can find the most comfort in at the end of the day. One benefit to the bedroom is you can usually do it all yourself to save time and money. So, to gut it out means getting rid of nearly everything in the room. Hire yourself an environmentally-responsible rubbish removal company that will remove anything you take out of the room for you. Then all you need is that modern design to put back in it. If you’ve always had carpet, have you ever considered getting laminate flooring instead? It looks so much more modern, and is actually so much easier to maintain. It would cost just as much as carpet to replace, so you won’t be losing out too much. Worrying about spilling a drink and staining the carpet is going to be a thing of the past. As for the bedframe, something ultra modern would be to have one where the TV is installed at the end of the bed. It brings it closer to you, makes the whole experience of being in bed ten times comfier, and most of them are electronic so you can hide it away when you don’t need it. Some nice oak furniture for a bedside table or chest of draws will also look perfect against the laminate flooring. It’s up to you what colour scheme you go for, for the bedroom you might prefer to go for something that’s a little darker and more relaxing. Mink or grey is so in right now. It isn’t too dark that the room begins to look like a cave, but it isn’t the bright light of a white wall that isn’t as relaxing.

Think Alternative

One of the best design trends at the minute that’s alternative is the Hygge look. Ever since the Hygge interior design trend stormed into the world, it has remained a firm favourite for people all over the world. It is something that can be used in every room in the house, but we’re going to tell you how to achieve it in the living room. The living room for a lot of people is the main room in the house. It’s perfect for relaxing at the end of a hard day with either friends or family. So if you want to achieve Hygge, you’re going to have to think simplistic and natural. Again, laminate flooring would be perfect, but a grey carpet would also look fine. Laminate is just easy to clean! Material sofas are going to look better than leather as well for Hygge. A nice lighter coloured sofa, perhaps a risky cream one, would be perfect. A fur throw to put over the top will complete the look for the sofa. In the center of the room you could have a nice oak carved coffee table. We’re not talking about the standard ones you can get from your local home store, we’re talking about the hand crafted and carved ones that look like they’ve come straight from the tree. It gives the room a more earthy and natural feel, and is so alternative to the usual coffee tables. A nice fur rug going underneath it, and a simple oak shelving or smaller coffee table in the room will complete that Hygge look. Keep the walls white and bright and you’re onto a winner.

Bright & Fresh

We’ve spoke about how the walls of the living room should be nice and white, but the kitchen is another area that should follow this rule too. In the heat of the Aussie weather, the kitchen can easily become so hot from the power of the sun. Keeping the walls white reflects the sun and helps to keep it bright and airy. Once you’ve got the walls perfect, it’s important to give them a fresh coat each year. A year is a long time for finger marks, stains, and just the general fading of the wall to happen. Having a fresh coat of paint can literally transform a room more than you would ever think it could, and it doesn’t take long or cost much either!
