I’ve never been one for mushy, so had no concerns that the weekend was spent with Rish’s mum visiting and me heading to Uni for 8 hours on Sunday.
Yes, I’m furthering my education instead of pushing out kids. *K-Rudd looks on in horror*. Maybe in 4 years when we’re ready for a kidlet, we might have a leader of the country (or even the opposition) that is not a middle-aged, conservative, white, Christian male? Bring on the Greens, bring back the Democrats, bring on Fiona Pattern’s Australian Sex Party. Something. Oh, and bring on the republic.
*ahem*
The cool weather and rain on the weekend, meant that an 8am Sunday start at uni needed a coffee and tights. I think Autumn is coming, with cool mornings, but still warm days this week

We also managed to eat our first home-grown tomato! Baby-steps!

Met the little nephew on the weekend :) At times he opened his eyes and realised there were things going on around him…

I decided to give him one of my childhood books (Mem Fox’s Sail Away) that my sister had given me when I was like five… and she was 3?

Now, he’ll just have to hang onto it 25 years or so to pass it onto whichever baby around that time… right?

(he looks like a baby to me)

3140g (or 8lb 4oz in baby weight) and 37cm. I think that translates to being short and tubby? Make that 47cm. 37 was his head.

I’ve just spent two days in a workshop on Autism (and related spectrum disorders). Nice to have some new resources, information (like did you know that the original article that claimed a link between the MMR vaccination and ASD was not only discredited many times over, but actually retracted? And yet people still go on about a link?) There are so many expensive and unproven “cures” out there, it’s scary :(
Now I need to try and apply my new info to my caseload. Starting … Tuesday I think I have my next kid with a PDD in… provided I don’t succumb to this sore throat/cold that’s been hanging around these two days… a weekend in Newcastle will either fix me or wear me down right??
(I can’t get the new DMB single out of my head. You can download it here free atm… My hard drive has died so I can’t replace it with a new song in my head right now)
(oh and I’m having a nephew apparently. waiting for the first baby pics to appear on facebook!)

So, yeah. I’m told that my little (oh she’s 24, but she’s still my baby sister) is pregnant, and so I’m going to be an Aunty.
Important question time. What should and aunt, whose name is Fiona, be referred to as by her niece or nephew?

Scarily relevant, following last night’s conversation with Rish:

Apparently I’m nearly 26, and while the thought of having kid/s at 30 doesn’t seem that daunting, THAT’S ONLY 4 YEARS OFF (Rish just had a heart attack. sorry dear)…
Love xkcd. It is my life in comic form. (Romance, sarcasm, math, and language? Yes, that’s my life)
