Went on a bit of an adventure (or epic journey) on Monday to go to Bowral for a job interview.
ZOMG check it out, it’s a paper ticket!
Reasoning with myself that the $8.60 in train fare was about half of what the TOLL ROADS would cost me to get there, let alone petrol and having to stay awake for the journey, I got to Fassifern before 6am for the three trains there and three trains back.
Settled in for a nap on the first leg, hoping all my connections would line up – which they did! Including the revelation that “Panania” is a place, and that people get excited to be getting on diesel trains, especially oldies on their excursion tickets who ignore the “quiet carriage” signage.
The interview was a couple of kilometres walk from the station, but as you see my feet were prepared (with heels to slip into on arrival!)
Springtime has certainly hit! With the gardens and wildflowers (weeds! and wanderers!) blooming
I got a tad pink from the sun, but it was lovely to be out :)
I had a latish lunch at Janecks Cafe and Bar
Courgette and Haloumi fritters (all day breakfast menu – $17) and a lovely local Riesling!
All fuel for the epic journey home…

I was sent a couple of boxes of Uncle Toby’s Quick Oats Sachets via Nuffnang to have a try of and tell you about.
Creamy Honey. With extra sugar cos they weren’t for me
I’ve been eating oats in winter forever. I’ll put it up front, that I prefer just getting plain oats or plain quickoats and doing them in the microwave with milk and (preferably brown) sugar. But since the world is all about convenience, I’ve had these sorts of things sitting in my draw at work for a post gym breakfast or a warm afternoon snack.
So, what do I like about these and their flavours?
I like the built in measuring cup on the sachet! No more guesstimating or rummaging for a certain cup measure to add the milk with. After that you only need to stir and whack it in the microwave for 90 seconds. Easy peasy.
Apple and Cinnamon was my favourite flavour. But then, cinnamon is great, right?
The apple and honey was the boring one… it needed way more apple to be able to notice it under the honey. If I’d had apples on hand, I probbly would have put half an apples worth of slices on it.
The raspberry highlights in the last one was a pleasant surprise.
So, how do you cook your oats? Does something easy like this appeal to you?
Went for a late lunch /slash afternoon tea with the family for my birthday. Cupcakes and babycinos for the kids, cake and coffee for my Mum and sister, and meals for B and I because I couldn’t face cake, and hadn’t had lunch…
My awesome chicken burger – $18
The insides – chicken, tomato, cheese, lettuce, aioli, avocado

Caught up for Brunch with my Mum the other week, and I have to say I love places that do an all day breakfast menu. This meant I could get these wonderful fritters after midday when Mum was ready for a wrap :)
Corn fritters with roasted tomato, guacamole and sour cream, $13
Turkey, cranberry and avo wrap with nummy chips, $13.
Top that off with some really yum coffees. :D
