We didn’t go on the toy run – but managed to arrive in Garema Place just as the bikes pulled in yesterday! With Santa and Mrs Claus leading the way, the posties out in good numbers, and the weather great for it!

Headed along to the Rosé Revolution wine tasting at Parlour on Tuesday night.
Of the Canberra wines, I quite enjoyed the Domaine Rogha Crois “Slink Mink”, the Mount Majura Woolshed Creek Pink (Which I have another bottle of to enjoy on the weekend with friends!), Yarrh Wines Rose, the Lerida Estate Pinot Rose (but not the barrel fermented one – I learned from the taste of the two that you can get wooded/unwooded Rose just like you can Chardonnay, and the oak isn’t to my taste!), The Abstainer from Captial Wines was nice too, and their labels always make me smile (I do know many who buy based on the label’s interest).
My little taste buds didn’t appreciate the Gundog Estate Rose, however there were many around me raving about it. Each to his own :D

Just to add a little colour, a little perfume.
Flowers are something that have grown on me over the years.
I think it was 6 years ago today-ish that we first properly came to Canberra. I didn’t stay permanently for another 6 months, but was here enough. No wonder people are starting to think I’m a local!
(though someone did get asked if I was a new grad last week. meeps! I looked young that day?)

Week 407…

Everyone loves a cheap feed, hey? Especially when they’ve been drinking and celebrating Rish submitting his thesis! Woo! Grabbed a table on Friday night at Shanghai Dumpling Cafe under Uni Lodge for a dinner that worked out at 10.70/head.
I’m not really sure what we ordered, a bunch of noodles and dumplings, 10 dishes for the 10 of us, including some vegetarian ones.
I was vastly too sober and tired to enjoy myself as much as the others, as I was driving, but there was much laughter and stress release.
And shots later that night at King O’Malley’s.

Honestly, could have just left me, the dahl and the naan alone and I’d have been quite happy :)

I didn’t stay for the lighting of the candles, but I was there for some squid balls (and the queue for them), some cakes, caligraphy, and some martial arts demonstrations…

Backstory: Last week while I was off on sick leave, all hell broke loose over some comment at Chocolate Suze’s Blog… comments about Asians always taking photos of food and blogging them.
So, you can understand my amusement when I’m out for dinner with a mostly Asian group of friends at The Chairman & Yip, I pull out my camera to get a pic of the dishes, and one of the girls shrieks “argh! why are you doing that Asian thing? Taking photos of food! Stop doing that Asian thing!” Cue jokes about me being the whitest girl alive, and the only white gal at the table. And continue trying to take pics, which are clearly affected by low light and a few glasses of wine ….. ;)

I love how they put the menus into design magazines!

The fog across the oval at work this afternoon.
Nothing a little tights action couldn’t brighten up!

Okay. Here is my itinerary in yahoo weather widgets. Towards the end my packing dilemma will be revealed.

First stop, Vienna. Fly into Frankfurt Saturday with Malaysian Airlines, then hop straight onto an Air Berlin flight to Vienna. Were supposed to be meeting friends there, but they’ve pulled out… plans to date: apple strudel (for Rish), music, horses. For all locations, suggestions welcome. We probably won’t stay in Vienna the whole time we’re in Austria, likely to venture out a little :)
