Made me smile.

Never be afraid to ask for what you want.
A double shot of coffee, soy milk, and blended with ice.
Perfect for the 30+ degree day.

I have to love how many Newcastle restaurants I’m only going to now that I’ve lived out of the place for seven years.
Benjama’s Thai in Darby Street is now another one for their list. Amazing food, why haven’t I tried you before?
Oh that’s right, because when I worked at a Thai restaurant in Newcastle, and lived off pad thai, Thai was the last thing I’d go out for.

Token vego dish to space out the meat and noodles.

Rish’s parents got back from overseas on the weekend, so the hoardes went to Grind on Darby for lunch on Sunday.
My coffee was good. Went down well.
A couple of bowls of smashed chats. Too much smashing! Not all could be easily eaten. :\
Salt and pepper squid was ordered by 4 I think. And I’m told nice, but not as fresh as some times.
Roast pumpkin salad. Shame they put in red onion instead of olives :( Thanks for asking for me olives, Rish!

I arrived an hour early for breakfast on Sunday. Apparently the Android Facebook App is not to be relied on for important things like time of events. Mine said 8:30am, Rish’s said 2:30am. At least he could easily tell his was wrong!
A made up breakfast of gluten free toast, bacon, tomato and avocado. What? You can’t see the avo? That’s because they forgot it.
Here it is! An interesting mixed up avocado puree with a hint of chili, I believe.
So filling! :)

With a detour via Sydney on the way to check out some job leads, and arriving back close to midnight last night, the weekend was a rather long long weekend.

I wanted to get the Miley cake…

I put my icy fingers on his neck and then he kept making me keep doing it!!

A dinner at Grind on Darby Street

My made up breakfast at Hippo at Warners Bay.

The coffee I didn’t spill all over myself. Liam (the toddler) spilled two. I only spilled one. Grace does not come with age in my family!

Mum had a avocado salsa dish with a poached egg.
Looking forward to being closer, getting there at bit more!

Decided, as nothing else was planned, we’d get all grown up and actually go to dinner for New Year’s Eve. We HAVE been out of school for 10 years you know ;) So, to Customs House it was, for 4 courses, a view out the window of the fireworks, and awesome company. Oh and more cheap wine :p

After sending Rish off to paint our rental house in Newcastle, I caught up with a friend for breakfast at Longbench on Darby Street. Had to send back my first coffee, because there were still lipstick prints on the glass, but the second went down well. Not sure why they sent honey with my soy latte.
Breakfast for me was sourdough, avocado (with lime and pepper) and some tomato. Healthy for January 3. My dear friend Phil went the fruit salad. Longbench has been up and down over the years. Used to have a friend who was a chef there aaaages ago, but he’s moved to several places since! Love Darby Street cafes!

There’s a cool white and black cat that lives at Ramjet, a clothing store on Darby Street, Newcastle. He’s cool! Sleeping away, not worried by the passers-by!

Liam, eating my Semolina Porridge. He liked it more than me.
Caught up with my sister and nephew, and my parents at The Kitchen cafe on Darby Street Cooks Hill when we were up. After Jennie lugging the stroller upstairs (my dad had told them that we needed a place for the stroller when he booked, but they didn’t note it down, otherwise a downstairs table would have been organised and appreciated), we got to choosing our foods.

The Semolina Porridge that Liam and I ended up sharing. Wasn’t a good choice on my behalf, was hoping for more fruit. But Liam scoffed down more than me, so it wasn’t wasted!
