Thirty before 30

Around my 28th Birthday I decided to start on a Thirty before 30 list, as 101 in 1001 are all the rage, but I couldn’t commit to writing a list, let along completing the tasks!

Here’s my list:

  1. Finish my Masters – done!!
  2. Visit Japan
  3. Run 8km- done!
  4. Sort out my diet – done!
  5. Buy some knee-high boots that fit my calves
  6. Learn to cook tofu in at least 3 ways (including stirfry)
  7. Read 20 Popular Penguins (a few can be checked off already, will let you know in my first update!)
  8. Do some unassisted chin-ups
  9. Eat gluten free hot cross buns – Done. I think?
  10. Finishing knitting the pink/red scarf that’s been in the cupboard part done for at least 2 years- erm I threw it out in the move
  11. Run 10 km (Mothers day classic?) – Done and done!
  12. Have made at least 2 things from each cookbook I own
  13. Meet at least 10 more ‘internet people’ IRL – too easy!
  14. Sell or play my clarinet
  15. Drastically reduce my diet coke intake – no more than one in a day, no more than 4 in a week – haven’t had diet coke since Jan 14, 2011
  16. Have a caffeine free month – probably won’t happen. I did two weeks!
  17. Try Body Balance. At least twice.
  18. Properly tag all my mp3s
  19. Do a pole dancing course or burlesque course (I’ve only done a one-off hens night)
  20. Make this gingerbread cake
  21. Get down to my “preferred weight” and maintain it for 3 months
  22. Successfully give blood (ie no passing out before they have enough) – this won’t be happening for a couple of reasons. Silly rules
  23. Take and blog a photo a day of me for a month
  24. Buy a re-usable coffee cup for my takeaway coffee (recommendations sought) – done.
  25. Sew a skirt
  26. Sew a dress
  27. Do a wine tasting course
  28. Go skinny dipping!
  29. Bake awesome vegan cupcakes to take into work – done!
  30. “Go Dark” for a weekend (preferably on the South Coast!)

Posts relating to the list will get the tag 30 before 30 so if you want to follow my progress, just click on that one!

With a little over a year to go I have done:

Run 8km
Sort out my diet (ish…. I think I may get to reintroduce stuff soon. yay!)
Run 10 km (Mothers day classic?)
Meet at least 10 more ‘internet people’ IRL
Drastically reduce my diet coke intake – no more than one in a day, no more than 4 in a week (none is 5 months, counts!!)
Bake awesome vegan cupcakes to take into work – done!

I have have made some progress on others.

Pretty ordinary, where is the ambition? like climb to Base Camp, hike the West Coast Trail, get married, buy a house, have a baby?

You think getting married, buying a house and getting knocked up are ambitious? The other two, for sure!

rofl!

While I might otherwise applaud your lack of conformity to gender stereotypes, you DID include baking cupcakes in your list. :P

At the bottom of it I believe in each to their own. However, having children is often considered the greatest achievement of even the incredibly successful and ambitious. I think we should be careful in our judgement of each other’s dreams and ambitions.

mwahaha. Vegan cupcakes. They were awesome.

You can have the babies. I’m happy in my aunty role. Run in, spoil, create havoc, and run back out :)

PS you rule.

Indeed, aunt role is good, however I’ve been careful in my havoc-making, knowing that I might cop it back sometimes in the future. I always buy quiet toys!

Someone has to fight idiocracy. :P But I’m not going to make up for the rest of you not breeding without significant financial input.
