Darby Street Eats ~ the little lioness

Darby Street Eats

Even when I’m only in Newcastle for a short stay, I tend to have a few meals on Darby Street :)

3 Monkeys, Darby St
Fruit salad with almond cous cous for breakfast from 3 Monkeys

It’s been awhile since I’m been to 3 Monkeys, mostly because I’ve had quite bad service there in the past. But I was impressed with this different breakfast. I don’t think I’ve had cous cous for breakfast before! and the grapes were awesome :) Good to have for breakky after dancing til three on my blistered feet after the wedding!

The Kitchen Darby St - Bruschetta!

I had dinner with friends the night before the wedding at The Kitchen. I was quite happy with the bruschetta (no red onion! awesome!) but we had to wait for eternity for our mains to arrive. Not good when you’re the one mostly drinking the wine ;)

Prawn and ‘chili’ linguine… no spice at all! Also wasn’t happy that there was cheese on top… would prefer to have that added after to my liking if I’d like it, or written on the menu so I can ask to NOT have it. Fed that to Rish :p

The the girls and I joined Rish and his family at Depot where we had desserts and cocktails (yum!) and they had mains

I love the deconstructed nature of that couscous breakfast. I almost never have couscous in any form, as the mother is allergic to wheat… but I’m tempted to have a go at replicating this sweet version.

P.S. Any chance you’re free this week for tea/coffee? I’m having surgery Saturday week so will be out of commission for a bti after that… :S
