Four Options to Help Reclaim a Younger Looking You

The wide array of offerings from a cosmetic center can be new and overwhelming, especially for those who have never used any of the services such as laser hair removal or spider vein treatments. The field of health and beauty has come a long way over the past couple decades, and cosmetic centers have adopted many of these new technologies. The following four services are some of the most popular and commonly administered by local cosmetic centers.

Laser Hair Removal

Dealing with unwanted hair is one of the top problems that women struggle with. It’s time-consuming, expensive, and sometimes painful, too. Shaving and waxing aren’t fun, and can result in things like razor burn, ingrown hairs, and cuts if you’re not careful.

This is why laser hair removal has quickly shot to the top of the list of services that cosmetic centers offer. Using a diode (or similar) laser, pulses of light are strategically delivered to the hair follicles, rendering them unable to grow. The big benefit of laser hair removal is that it keeps the treated area hair-free for several months – sometimes over a year – depending on your skin and hair type. You won’t have to think about shaving or waxing again for a very long time.

The other thing that clients love about laser hair removal is that it can be performed literally anywhere on the body. Most of the time, the procedure is performed on the legs, armpits, and bikini area, however, the laser is able to remove unwanted hair from the back of the neck, face, and back as well. It’s a highly versatile treatment.

Dermal Fillers

As people age, naturally, there is going to be some volume loss in the skin which can affect a person’s appearance. Common signs include wrinkles, hollow cheeks, crow’s feet around the eyes, and thinning of the lips. Signs of aging well also appear in the hands; the metacarpal bones will be more evident, giving the hand an overall bony look.

Dermal fillers are another common application used by most cosmetic centers. Restylane and Juvéderm are a couple of the more popular brands of dermal filler, and have proven successful in treating the lines and wrinkles most commonly associated with aging. The treatment can even be applied to the hands, giving them a fuller and more youthful appearance.

Spider Vein Treatment (Sclerotherapy)

It’s hard to not be self-conscious when suffering with spider veins, especially during pool season. Most commonly found on the back of the knee, these unsightly veins often appear in purple-reddish cluster patterns. Spider veins can be caused by prolonged standing, hormones, blood clots, or for hereditary reasons.

Fortunately, spider vein treatment (aka sclerotherapy) is a common practice for most cosmetic centers. In fact, this form of treatment has been around for the better part of a century. A typical sclerotherapy session takes around a half an hour and consists of injecting the affected veins with a solution using small needles. The solution effectively shuts down those veins, and after a while, the body simply reabsorbs them. It usually takes several weeks before the treatment is fully evident. Although not instantaneous, sclerotherapy has proven to be effective, safe, and relatively painless.

Chemical Peels

Your top-most layer of skin is always the one that’s most damaged from the sun and other factors. This can lead to common skin conditions such as wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, age spots, freckles, and other flaws that can’t be remedied using over-the-counter methods.

Cosmetic centers now offer a service called chemical peel, which essentially removes the top layer of unhealthy and damaged skin to reveal the youthful glowing skin underneath. During the process, the trained specialist or healthcare provider will apply a solution to the skin (such as alpha-hydroxy) that activates the peeling process.

Peels come in three levels: superficial, medium, and deep. Depending on the level of peel you go with, a different process and solution is used on the skin. Recovery time can also last as long as several months, however, this method has been proven to yield long-lasting radiant skin.

Find Your Local Cosmetic Center

The best way to get started with a treatment such as laser hair removal is by Googling “cosmetic laser center near me” or a similar term. This will give you a good idea of what cosmetic centers and bikini waxing company are in your area. Always make sure to go with a reputable practice with lots of experience and positive patient feedback, as these are both indicators of quality of work they do. Once you’ve identified the procedure or treatment that you believe will benefit you, your first official step will be setting up a consultation. Your doctor or presiding physician will explain the process of the procedure, what your recovery plan will be, and the estimated costs. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
