Fuller and thicker eyebrows can add charm to your overall personality and can make you stand out from others.

But not all women are blessed with dark and feathery brows.

No worries!

Eyebrow extensions and microblading are among the most popular beauty procedures to get voluminous and natural-looking brows. However, they are technically different.

Read the blog to know the meaning and differences between the two techniques.

Eyebrow extensions

Whether you have uneven brows or want to reshape your entire brow, brow extension is a needle-free way to get beautiful and gorgeous eyebrows.

It is an instant solution to save yourself from the hassle of grooming your brows every morning.

In this procedure, an expert uses a strong adhesive to fix natural hair-like fibres directly on top of your real brows.

The shape or size of the brow can be customized as per your needs.

Microblading

Many Hollywood celebrities like Lena Dunham and Megan Fox have often spotted with microblading eyebrows

But, what makes microblading so popular?

It is a tattooing procedure in which a specialist uses a small needle tool to draw semi-permanent hair-like lines onto your skin that looks like your natural eyebrow.

Microblading is a great option for women having little to no brows.

Differences

1.   Durable

Eyebrow extensions can last anywhere between 10 to 24 days making them ideal for a party or vacation.

On the other hand, microblading is more practical for long-term use and can last between 1 to 3 years if properly taken care of.

2.   Maintenance

Eyebrow extensions are a simple and non-invasive procedure. However, to make them long laster, follow a few maintenance tips:

  • Don’t use oil containing makeup products
  • Avoid getting your extensions wet for 24 hours
  • Avoid touching your eyebrow extensions frequently

On the other hand, microblading eyebrows require more and intensive care like:

  • Avoid getting the area wet for up to 10 days
  • Don’t wear makeup for at least a week
  • Avoid sweating, saunas, and excessive swimming
  • Keep your hair away from your brow line

3. Time of procedure

The eyebrow extension process takes anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your needs.

The first session of the microblading procedure takes about 1 to 2 hours. However, a 30-minute touch-up session is recommended 4-6 weeks after the first session.

4. Cost

The cost depends on the salon, hair thickness, type of hair used, and shape of the extensions.

On average, professional eyebrow extensions cost around $50 and can go up to $250 or more.

On the other hand, the initial cost of microblading starts from $450 and maintenance costs from $100.

5. Risks

Extensions don’t use needles, so the chances of you getting infected are minimum. And if you don’t like the initial result, it can easily be changed.

Unlike extensions, there are more risks involved in the microblading process.

There are higher chances for transmission of infectious diseases like AIDS and skin infections.

In the end…

While there are a lot of brow pencils, gels, and waxes to help you get the illusion of false brows.

However, eyebrow extensions and microblading are the most effective procedures to help you get natural-looking brows.

However, the decision still depends on your needs and budget.
