I got it out. I always do.
Not a great start to the day – spent over half an hour trying to get the ripped left contact out of my eye, while half of it was on th bench. Eventually go it out, but not before turning early to work into late for work.
I did remember to take my lunch… gotta make a dent into my tuna supply. I bought 36 tins of tuna yesterday – $1 each for Greenseas in bulk boxes of 12? Can’t say no to that! (and apparently you can earn points and win stuff with them this month too! Gotta get entering those codes!)
Drank my first diet coke in a fortnight after lunch today (What’s that I said about giving up? Hard when I have a pile of reports to get out before the end of the week and my brain isn’t warmed up yet! Maybe fish oil would better help me concentrate? And help my knees? They kept rambling an about it at the retreat.)
Was going to go do a cardio session this afternoon, but ended up in Pump class, because I forgot my earbuds. Good fun :) But things will hurt in the morning! Better get up for an early walk to warm my joints through!
So, last Friday (18/4) I went to the optometrist for my contact lens trial… after some fiddling around, going for a wander so that the left contact could turn itself to the right position in my eye (it was 15 degrees off, apparently it’s only supposed to be up to 5)… I walked out of there with a pair of contacts to trial for the week.
(when I say for a week, I tried to book the follow-up appointment for yesterday, but they didn’t have optometrists in that day, and I couldn’t get anything on monday, so the week thing may extend to a couple by the time I can get in *rolls eyes*)
Anyway. Trialling them, I’m pretty sure I’ll get some to wear, but not sure how committed i am to wearing them every day. They’re great in that I can wear sunglasses, run around like and idiot without worrying about glasses. They’re also great for wearing out – I can put on eye makeup without guessing where my eyes are… and I’m able to put colour in my hair without getting it on frames that are in the way, or again guessing where everything is exactly when there’s no glasses on. Now I just to learn how to actually DO eye makeup…
They’re not so good in that I think my working day plus the time until I get home at night is exceeding the length of time I shold be wearing them. But I’m getting used to that, and using eye drops to extend the time I can wear them. I think having a sniffle in general doesn’t help.
Oh and I feel naked. I think I must hide behind my glasses. I kow they hide the circles under my eyes. Another reason to learn to do makeup properly… or to get more sleep!
But there’s definately a lot of positives. Particularly in having the choice in what I want to wear, wearing my sunglasses, stuff like that. And I’ve only dropped one once in a week… Rish had to help me find it on the bath room floor. gah.
(and no, they’re not purple contacts *pouts* They dont come in my prescription… that’s the hair colour that’s going in at the moment!)
So, I can’t get daily contacts. My right eye and my left eye have both apparently gotten a lot worse over the past 2 years, and so I have to up my prescription by an amount that the optomestrist says may make me feel a little queasy and so I should ease my way into it. Plus the lenses alone will cost between $327 and $476, depending on the type of frames I have them put into.
I’m going to trial the contacts still, but not really sure what I should be doing glasses-wise. I will be poor, regardless.
So, to whoever it was who stole Rish’s laptop last night… I hope karma gets you. Or you realise that you’re better off just giving it back for that no questions asked reward. I don’t care about the laptop, it’s just the work he had inside of it :(
Did my second PUMP class. Feeling quite shakey.. I need to get dinner started so I don’t fall over into bed. But it was good, though I think I had my weights too high at one point :p I’ll gauage it properly next week.
I nearly lost my work diary today. I headed to Woden to book an optomestrist appointment (think I’m going to get daily disposable contact lenses for those times when I really should have been wearing contacts), get lunch, and to just get out of the office. I put my diary on top of the car while I got my keys out, then got in and drove off. Made it back to work 5km away, and realised that there was no diary on my passenger seat. Crap. Drive back to Woden. Diary is on the ramp out of the car park *phew*
Okay. Need to make sweet potato chips. Yums.
